After the horrible news that choreographer Shane Sparks had been arrested, the producers of America’s Best Dance Crew had no choice but to replace him as a judge on the show. At least until the outcome of his legal issues. I’m still hoping for the best for him.
So today, we finally got word of the replacement judge’s identity. Singer Omarion will join Lil’ Mama & JC Chasez as the third judge for season 5 of ABDC. He looks like he’ll be a good choice in the judges’ seat and I can’t wait for the new season.

I promised to update you as details of Shane Sparks’ arrest were available. So here’s what is being said today by his attorney. I do want to remind everyone that Shane is completely innocent until proven guilty. And I truly hope he is successful in his defense.
“Shane Sparks is innocent, he knows it and soon the world will know it. We are going to fight this tooth and nail,” Sparks’ attorney Steve Meister tells E! News. Sparks posted bail late Saturday night, and is now solely focused on clearing his name.
Meister explains that the accusations are not only …read more

I have to admit to being totally shocked and sad by this morning’s news of choreographer Shane Sparks‘ arrest. I have spoken to him several times and really like him. He’s a very warm and energetic person and has so much talent. It’s hard to think he may be at fault. As always, he is innocent until proven guilty. With that said, here’s the news.

On this week’s performance show of So You Think You Can Dance, we found out that Ashleigh dislocated her shoulder and the medical people would not release her to perform. So poor Russell, her partner, had to once again dance with a last minute stand-in partner for two different dance styles. He is such a good dancer and adapts so well, he did a wonderful job on both of them!
Also, Ryan wanted so much for Ashleigh to be in the finale that he spent his own segment asking for viewers to vote for …read more

Congratulations to We Are Heroes for Becoming America’s Best Dance Crew!
Last night’s season 4 finale of America’s Best Dance Crew was fantastic! All nine of the crews from this season were back and danced for us in groups of three. They all blew me away with their group numbers and it was very clear that the show had more diversity of dance styles this season than any of the seasons before. I love that!
It all came down to the final two crews, Afroborike & We Are Heroes. They were both incredible, but America chose We Are Heroes …read more

On last night’s performance show of So You Think You Can Dance, there was a very special fourth judge on the panel. Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres brought her unique humor and her love of dance to the show in addition to guest judge, choreographer Mia Michaels. At one point when Nigel was particularly critical of Evan’s facial expressions and his “naturally heavy eyelids,” Ellen told him that she disagreed with Nigel and that each person is uniquely perfect and beautiful and that Evan was perfect the way he was. She touched me with her …read more

I just want to go on record saying that this season of America’s Best Dance Crew was not only the most amazing season so far, but it’s important to note that two of the final three crews were all-female crews. All season long, I thought Beat Freaks were one of the dominant crews. Even Shane Sparks told me this afternoon that he expected them to win.
And in their own way, I truly believe that they were also winners this season. They may not have been given the trophy or the title, …read more

Tonight, the season finale of America’s Best Dance Crew aired and I had absolutely no idea about which of the two final crews I should root for. I loved them both so much! And after some fantastic dance routines, Quest Crew was crowned the winners of America’s Best Dance Crew.
This group of amazing dancers was one of the two I felt strongly about all season. Last week’s performances were so incredible by Quest that I think America felt compelled …read more
Exclusive Interview: Shane Sparks, Choreographer

I’m so thrilled to report that I just finished an exclusive interview with master hip-hop choreographer, Shane Sparks. I’ve been a fan of Shane for years, ever since I first saw him on So You Think You Can Dance. He’s personally been instrumental in bringing hip-hop to the mainstream and to give street dancers the possibilities they now have to perform their craft.
He’s also a very friendly, personable man with totally contagious enthusiasm. He got a moment to talk with me just before he had to start getting ready for tonight’s season finale of America’s Best Dance Crew, …read more
America’s Best Dance Crew 5: It’s Down to Two Crews
[Photo: courtesy of Fanscape]
This week on America’s Best Dance Crew, the crews had to incorporate a number of very specific and diffcult dance moves into a longer dance routine. They called it the ABDC Decathlon and all three crews danced to the same music mix. Beat Freaks were voted through to the finale and Quest Crew & Fly Khicks had to battle it out for the other spot. Sadly for the Fly Khicks, they just couldn’t do it this time. They were eliminated.
I’ve been telling you all season long that it was a two crew season this time, and it …read more
