Here’s a great clip with So You Think You Can Dance host Cat Deeley at the season 6 auditions. She tells about what makes the difference between making it to the finals and not making it. I really like the way she gets to know the dancers and acts as their friend in the audition process.
She goes on to tell us how she dreads Thursday night’s elimination shows and how close she feels to all the dancers. She then reveals what she did for the Fourth of July.
So You Think You Can Dance 5: Karla & Vitolio Leave

I’m very sad to announce that this week on So You Think You Can Dance, the two dancers who had to go home were Vitolio & Karla. I have especially grown fond of Vitolio, with his story of courage and his kindness during the competition. It’s a very unfortunate thing that he has to leave. Karla is also a wonderful dancer and will be missed.

The judges this week on So You think You Can Dance were, of course Mary Murphy & Nigel Lythgoe, but also included Mia Michaels. The level of dance this season is at an all-time high, in my opinion. It is impossible to predict the final dancers this soon.

Last night on So You Think You Can Dance, the top 16 dancers took the stage in what is turning out to be one of the toughest competition season for the show yet. They are all so amazing! The guest judge this week was Toni Basil and she added her own particular style of input to the judging.

For me, the top performance of the night was the rumba performed by Ade & Melissa. It was so hot I felt like I needed a cigarette afterward…and I’ve never smoked!

Mia Michaels came through yet again with a very memorable routine that revolved around Evan admiring Randi’s behind. Nigel kept saying things about it, then pausing to say, “but…and there is a butt.”
It was a very nice routine and the judges had a lot of fun with it.

So You Think You Can Dance 5: Top 18 Perform

This week the Top 18 Dancers performed on So You Think You Can Dance. The level of talent this season seems to be much higher than previous seasons. All the dancers are amazing. It’s going to be hard to see anyone go. The guest judge this week was Lil C and he is always fun. He has the most interesting commentary each time!

The first pair to dance was Randi & Evan. They danced a jive that was choreographed by Dancing With the Stars pro dancer Louis Van Amstel. He’s fantastic on the ballroom floor, so it was no surprise that he brought a wonderful routine for them to do.
I loved the performance! They have the perfect personalities for the jive and they did a great job at it.

So You Think You Can Dance: Cat Deeley
May 26, 2009 by Lynn
It’s no secret that So You Think You Can Dance is one of my all-time favorite shows. Not only because I’m a lover of dance, but because I love to watch people triumph and succeed with hard work and determination.
Interestingly, Cat Deeley, the host of SYTYCD tells us in this clip that is pretty much the same reason she loves the show. She also talks about the dancers’ charisma and what makes a winning dancer. This is a great clip, and it makes me very eager for tomorrow’s new episode of the show:
So You Think You Can Dance 5: Interview With Cat Deeley

I had a chance to take part in a conference call interview with So You Think You Can Dance host, Cat Deeley. And in case you hadn’t guessed it, she really is as sweet on the phone as she seems to be on the show. What a delightful person!
In the conversation, she lets us all in on the fact that there will be a sixth season of the show that will start in the Fall, soon after season 5 ends. Hurray!! This is truly spectacular news for all of us who absolutely love this show!!
Here’s what else she had to say:
Q: This show always kind of surprises me with all the old stereotypes of dancing wiped away. I thought one of the interesting ones was, I used to think that the winning dancers would be kind of long and lean or short and gymnastic, and last year you had this guy who had this very football-type, athletic build, and he came out on top. Does that kind of surprise you, how diverse the dancers are in style and type and so forth?
C. Deeley: Actually, that’s the very nature of the show, and that’s what we like to celebrate. We like to celebrate people from all different races, religions, backgrounds, colors, creeds. You know, that’s the whole idea of the show, is that anybody from any background at all with any training can come on the show, and as long as they’ve got the talent and passion and they’re prepared to work hard, and also show their personality, of course, they are more than welcome to be on the show. We’re looking for stars. We’re not necessarily looking for a certain body type or a certain style or anything like that. We’re looking for America’s favorite dancer, which doesn’t necessarily mean the best. I’m certainly not asking people to fit in certain boxes. We’re not asking people to fit in certain molds. We’re kind of all-encompassing. We want people who the American public are going to identify with and are going to pick up the phone and vote for, and that’s what’s so special about our show.
Q: I’m a layman’s observer of this, give us an example of a style or type that just dazzled you when it came on, because it wasn’t a particular kind of dance you were familiar with and all of a sudden there it was in front of you.

So You think You Can Dance 5: Cat Deely & Mary Murphy Talk About What it Takes
Here’s another preview clip for the 5th season of So You Think You Can Dance. In this one, host Cat Deeley and judge Mary Murphy talk about just how difficult the competition is for the dancers.
Mary says that even though she has danced all her life, she was overwhelmed by how hard it was to learn African dance…learning a new dance style is tough enough, but to learn a new one each week must be incredibly hard!

Cat Deeley Shops Stylishly
December 26, 2008 by Lynn
Check out this photo of So You think You Can Dance host Cat Deeley out shopping at the Grove shopping center in LA. I think her look is fun and stylish. I never would have thought to put a hat and jacket with flip-flops, but it works for her, don’t you think?
