I wrote a few days ago about the new fitness videos from the SYTYCD dancers, but didn’t have a lot of info about them yet.

I got a lot more information for you about the new So You think You Can Dance, Get Fit titles. The dancers for each are some of my favorites and I’ll bet they are some of yours too. On the Cardio Funk DVD, the dancers are Courtney Galiano leading a Disco routine, Travis Wall leading a Contemporary routine and Lauren Gottlieb leading Hip Hop. And on the Tone & Groove DVD, the dancers are Stephen “Twitch” Boss leading a Hip Hop routine, Dmitry Chaplin (who is also a pro dancer on Dancing With the Stars) leading a Cha Cha and Katee Shean leading Jazz. They both sound like fun!

Both titles will be released on July 21, but if you pre-order (just click on the image to pre-order) them now, you can save some money. They’ll be shipped on the release date. No muss, no fuss.

The list price for each video is $16.99, but the pre-order price for each video is only $10.99…much cheaper than a gym membership. And a whole lot more fun!

So You Think You Can Dance 5: Max & Ashley Exit Interview

I found a clip of Max & Ashley talking about how it feels to be eliminated from So You think You Can Dance so early. It’s good to see that they can both still make jokes and have smiles on their faces. It must be a huge disappointment for them!

The clip is interesting because they address each of the points that Nigel Lythgoe told them as he gave them the news of their elimination. They tell about the choreographers they most wanted to work with and what they expect to do next. They really seem like fun people.

I am so happy that my friend Albert Lawrence got a chance to talk to the latest eliminated dancers from So You Think You Can Dance. He’s also a big fan of dance on TV and asked some very good questions of Max Kapitannikov and Ashley Valerio.

Here’s an excerpt from his discussion with them:

Albert Lawrence: As a ballroom dancer, you’re used to always dancing with a partner. So when it came time for you to do your dance solo, do you think that you were at a disadvantage?

Max Kapitannikov: I don’t think so, because it’s only 30 seconds. I think by doing the pop jazz routine, you can show a lot of things. I don’t think it’s really difficult as a ballroom dancer, for 30 seconds anyway.

Albert: Last night Nigel mentioned that the judging panel was not unanimous in its decision for who to send home. Do you have an idea of who was gunning for you and who was on the fence for you last night?

Ashley Valerio: No, I have no idea, I really don’t know – I’m clueless to that decision. I was really confident last night and enjoyed doing my solo, but I have no idea.

Albert: And Lil C’s comments are always very loquacious and eloquent, but as a dancer are you able to take something away from the deep comments that he gives out?

Ashley: It’s nice because, I’m kind of a very intellectual person. And when he speaks, I’m not like the most brilliant person, but he kind of gets me a little bit. I kind of get him, you know, and it’s exciting because sometimes I can get a little bit deep too, and I can take things from him.

Be sure to go read his entire interview with them on his Talk of Fame web site. Great job, Albert! ;-)

Get Fit With So You Think You Can Dance!

June 19, 2009 by Lynn

sytycd_cardioSo You Think You Can Dance has two new dance fitness videos that we can pre-order today. The two videos, Cardio Funk and Tone & Groove will be released on July 21, but if we pre-order them now, they’ll ship the same day that they are released.

sytycd_get-fitThe cover art is pretty small, so it’s tough to make out who all the dancers are, but I think I recognize Twitch Boss and Courtney Galiano at least. I’m sure the videos will be fun and what better way to get fit than to dance?!

The pre-order price for each video is only $10.99…much cheaper than a gym membership. And a whole lot more fun!

These are the Top 18 dancers that will perform for us on tonight’s episode of So You Think You Can Dance. I’m really excited, since I didn’t get to see last week’s performance show at all.

I really wish that FOX would put the SYTYCD shows out on their web site so we could go watch them after the fact…but I digress…

Last week, sadly, we had to see Tony and Paris leave the competition. I love to watch the series, but it’s always hard to have to see great dancers leave!

So You Think You Can Dance: Just Dance!

May 26, 2009 by Lynn

From time to time I still run into people who think that dancing is for sissies. They argue that dance should not be considered a sport. WTF?!!

OK granted, none of these people in this clip are throwing a ball or catching one, but they are absolutely, definitely and completely some of the most talented athletes ever!! I dare anyone to watch this clip and not see that this takes extraordinary physical training, talent and just plain hard work. Most professional athletes couldn’t come close to doing these things. That’s not to take away from what they do, but it’s just another way of being athletic.

Dancing is definitely a sport!! Check out this clip for So You Think You Can Dance:

So You Think You Can Dance 5: Photos From the Auditions

April 30, 2009 by Lynn

Well, the season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance is only three weeks away. I can’t wait!! This show is the very best part of the summer TV season for me and I just know we’re in for another fantastic year.

Will we have more amazing ballroom dancers who will go on to be dance pros on Dancing With the Stars, like Lacey, Dmitry & Chelsea? Will we meet more incredible dancers that will capture our hearts, like Twitch, Benji or Danny? And will we see any of the dancers from America’s Best Dance Crew on SYTYCD this year? Or will some of season 5’s dancers go on to win ABDC like Quest Crew? We will start to find out when season 5 premieres on May 21 on FOX.

All I can say is that I am excited about the new season and to get you in the mood for it too, here are some photos of the dancers that were at the auditions for this season:

So You think You Can Dance 5: Cat Deely & Mary Murphy Talk About What it Takes

April 16, 2009 by Lynn

Here’s another preview clip for the 5th season of So You Think You Can Dance. In this one, host Cat Deeley and judge Mary Murphy talk about just how difficult the competition is for the dancers.

Mary says that even though she has danced all her life, she was overwhelmed by how hard it was to learn African dance…learning a new dance style is tough enough, but to learn a new one each week must be incredibly hard!

So You think You Can Dance 5: Nigel Lythgoe & Adam Shankman Will Dance Off!

April 9, 2009 by Lynn

As you already know, the 5th season of So You Think You Can Dance is coming on May 21, and I can’t wait! Here’s another fun preview clip for the season where executive producer & judge Nigel Lythgoe and choreographer and judge Adam Shankman talk about what they love most about the show and why they think it’s so popular with the audience.

And then, we find out that after Nigel danced last season, Adam is challenging him to a dance off! The two of them sound like they are ready to really throw down for the right to say they are a better dancer. This should be good!!
