So You Think You Can Dance 5: Photos From the Auditions

Well, the season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance is only three weeks away. I can’t wait!! This show is the very best part of the summer TV season for me and I just know we’re in for another fantastic year.
Will we have more amazing ballroom dancers who will go on to be dance pros on Dancing With the Stars, like Lacey, Dmitry & Chelsea? Will we meet more incredible dancers that will capture our hearts, like Twitch, Benji or Danny? And will we see any of the dancers from America’s Best Dance Crew on SYTYCD this year? Or will some of season 5’s dancers go on to win ABDC like Quest Crew? We will start to find out when season 5 premieres on May 21 on FOX.
All I can say is that I am excited about the new season and to get you in the mood for it too, here are some photos of the dancers that were at the auditions for this season:

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Celebrated 50 Years
December 16, 2008 by Lynn
One of the premiere dance companies is the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Any time they perform, it’s certain that the dance will be as nearly perfect as is humanly possible. I love to see them perform. They nearly always take my breath way.
And now, they have celebrated their 50th anniversary. And it was an all-star celebration too. Among the guests were Oprah Winfrey, Jesse Jackson, Soledad O’Brien and fashion designers James Mischka and Mark Badgley. Here are some cool photos from the event:
So You Think You Can Dance: Comfort & Thayne Leave

Tonight we found out that the bottom three couples this week were Comfort & Thayne, Twitch & Kherington and Will & Jessica. The minute we found out who the three pairs were, I knew it was going to be Thayne & Comfort to go home. Don’t get me wrong, I think Thayne is terrific! He is a wonderful dancer and he has that amazing personality that makes him so fun to watch. I will truly miss his smile!

And Comfort is a fantastic hip-hop dancer. And she’s beautiful to boot! But it became obvious that she didn’t have the level of training the other dancers have. The competition was simply out of her grasp.
I was also stunned to see Will, Twitch & Kherington in the bottom three. I knew they were safe this week. Like I said in yesterday’s post, I expect the three of them to be in the final four. Jessica, I’m afraid, may be next to go home unless she really pulls one out of a hat next week. She too is out of her league.
But now we know who the final 10 dancers are. They are the performers we’ll see on the tour this year. I can’t wait!!

It was an amazing night because of a whole new style of dance making its debut on the show and because of the extraordinary dance by Will & Jessica. But all of the dances looked great and I thought you would like to see the top 12 dance performances captured in potographs. Check them out:

Joey Fatone May Need to Start Dancing Again
May 11, 2008 by Lynn
First of all, I need to confess that when I injured my back and had to stop dancing nearly daily I began to have weight problems in earnest. So I’m not sitting in judgement, it’s just what happens when a person who is used to the aerobic exercise of dance stops.
A case in point is this recent snapshot taken of Joey Fatone from the fourth season of Dancing With the Stars. When he came on the show, he was jokingly called Joey “Fat-One” and lost a ton of wieght because of the exercise of the dance. It looks as though he may need to take up dance again. Check it out:

Bruno Tonioli & Lisa Rinna Both Want “Good Karma”
January 14, 2008 by Lynn
Is it that Bruno Tonioli likes to compete with dancing women for things, or just a fun time at a gift lounge? I’m thinking it’s all in good fun. Here are some photos of Dance War choreographer, Bruno Tonioli, and Dancing With the Stars veteran, Lisa Rinna battling for the same “Good Karma” t-shirt. They were both at the Access Hollywood “Stuff You Must…” Lounge Produced by On 3 Productions on January 12 in Beverly Hills.

Drew Lachey Visited “The Sauce”
Drew Lachey looks like he was his usual, fun self when he appeared on fuse’s “The Sauce” on January 10. Personally, I think he’s the perfect person to host Dance Wars. He is a singer that also dances. In fact, he dances well enough that he and his partner, Cheryl Burke won the second season of Dancing With the Stars.
