America’s Best Dance Crew: Official Bios & Photos of the Crews
February 6, 2008 by Lynn

America’s Best Dance Crew will premiere tomorrow on MTV. If you were able to see the casting special, you know the amazing dance crews who will be battling to become America’s Best Dance Crew.
Today, I was sent the official press photos and bios for each of the nine dance crews and I’m now eagerly awaiting the show. Here are the incredible dancers. Be sure to check back here for the recap after the show.
Break Sk8:

BREAK SK8 (Kokomo, Indiana) - 5 crew members / all male
With the best Jam skaters in the nation, Break Sk8 dances to hip hop music on “old school” roller skates. They have performed at local high schools across Indiana and then were approached by the Indiana Pacers in 2005 to perform at every home basketball game. The crew also was featured in the movie “Roll Bounce” and did all the stunt skating for the film.

Enigma Dance Kru:

ENIGMA DANCE KRU (Tampa, Florida) - 7 crew members / male & female
Known for their unique trendy dance style as well as their versatile hip hop choreography, Enigma Dance Kru has been on the dance scene since 2002. They have appeared on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” and were featured in a commercial for Checkers Rally’s. Two of the crew members danced in the feature “Bring It On: In It to Win It.”
JabbaWockeeZ:

JABBAWOCKEEZ (San Diego, California) - 6 crew members / all male
Their name comes from a dragon named Jabberwocky who roamed the woods in the children’s story “Through the Looking Glass” by Lewis Carol. Their unique signature is the use of white masks to create a faceless troupe so that the attention is on the dance movement.
Status Quo:

STATUS QUO (Boston, Massachusetts) - 6 crew members / all male
Status Quo promotes unity by using dance to resolve conflict rather than violence. One of the members (Jamal - the tallest guy in the crew) competed on the 2007 season of “So You Think You Can Dance.” Using all forms of dance (hip hop, break dancing, krub and tap) plus gymnastics, Status Quo has performed in numerous hometown competitions including the Annual Beantown Big Bounce competition which they took top honors two consecutive years.
Live in Color:

LIVE IN COLOR (Miami, Florida) - 7 crew members / male & female
Created in 1989, Live in Color puts on a high-energy show incorporating styles of urban funk, hip-hop, jazz and African dance. They have performed at Showtime at the Apollo, Miami Heat halftime shows and the San Francisco hip hop fest.
ICONnic:
ICONIC (Englishtown, New Jersey) - 7 crew members / male & female
ICONic embodies many different elements of Hip Hop in its performances and brings and entertainment value that will capture its audience. Almost all members of the crew are formally trained in many styles of dance including ballet, tap and jazz
Femme 5:

FEMME 5 (Chicago, Illinois) - 5 crew members / all female
Femme 5 brings a touch of feminine to a male-dominated dance. Growing up in the dance community in Chicago, the girls all competed against each other for different dance companies. With the same goal to move to Los Angeles to pursue their dance careers, they decided to band together and form their own crew.
Fysh n Chicks:

FYSH N CHICKS (Los Angeles) - 6 crew members / all female
An extremely versatile group of ladies, Fysh N Chicks feel that it is important to focus on the dance and not their bodies - as many female hip hop dancers do. Each of them have “fysh” names to represent their characters (i.e. Clown Fysh, Star Fysh, Angel Fysh…).
Kaba Modern:

KABA MODERN (Irvine, California) - 6 crew members / male & female
A street dance group established in 1992 at the University of California in Irvine, Kaba Modern is one of the most cutting edge hip hop troupes in California. To compete around California and Nevada, the crew will compete anywhere they can find space - from a classroom to the street.
