So You Think You Can Dance: Tonight’s Performances

by Lynn on June 21st, 2007

I’ll give you my first impressions of the dance performances, but I’ll post videos fo the performances in the next several days…so be sure to check back!! Here were tonight’s dances:

Neil & Lauren

Style:Hip-Hop - Choreographer: Dave Scott
Neil’s high dive over Lauren was incredible! They really seemed to have gotten the “feel” of hip-hop and they worked well together. Good stuff!

Pasha & Jessi
Style: Jazz - Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
It was fun and cool. They were so good it was hard to believe it was not their normal style.

Hok & Jaimie
Style: Samba - Choreographer: Jean-Marc Genereux
Our man Hok was out of his element a bit. I think he did an amazing job in spite of it. They did a good job, but so far tonight, not the best ones! (I’m heart-broken!) I agree with Nigel on this one, the choreography was not the standard Samba “together” style, so it seemed awkward to me. Please vote for them anyway!!

Dominic & Sabra
Style: Contemporary - Choreographer: Mandy Moore
Wow! They were awesome! Some of those moves were totally wonderful! It was flowing, it was moving, they were so much better this week!

Cedric & Faina
Style: Fox Trot - Choreographer: Hunter Johnson
Cedric had a tough time learning to lead in a partner dance, and I thought he seemed a bit stiff. Faina was fabulous, the whole thing was second nature to her. Cedric is such a fabulous dancer but I truly hope he gets the leading skills down in time…

Kameron & Lacey
Style: Broadway - Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
I have to say that poor Kameron was hard to pay attention to when Lacey was just so amazing! They were wonderful! Great as partners, they might be the couple to beat this season…

Danny & Anya
Style: Viennese Waltz - Choreographer: Hunter Johnson
I loved it! At first, I was wondering if they were doing a waltz together, but when they did get together, it was more than wonderful. They truly floated into romance. Great! (They got the first Mary Murphy scream of the evening…)

Jimmy & Shauna
Style: Hip-Hop - Choreographer: Dave Scott
They nailed it! The stepping was a bit hard to hear in the large room, but the whole dance was incredible! As contemporary dancers, they picked up the hip-hop style fast. Very good!

Jesús & Sara
Style: Paso Doble - Choreographer: Jean-Marc Genereux
Ole! That was out of control! Fabulous!! Jesus had the posture and attitude down pat. They were very good!

Be sure to tune in tomorrow night for the results show! It might be tough to pick two people to go home!

    Hok and Jaime

I agree with Nigel when he wished for a Dancing With The Stars caliber when it came to their Samba. I was actually surprised he mentioned the other show but at the same time not really. Considering it wasn’t they style I think they did good but something was missing. Choreography could’ve done a lot better.

    Cedric and Faina
Faina was definitely in her element. I feel for Cedric. I do like him. What I like even more about him is he knows he could do more. I’ve seen contestants before where they act all cocky towards the judges’s critique. I hate it when a dancer say, “well I had fun out there and the audience loved it”. With Cedric, he is very humble and you could see it in his eyes that he is determined to get better. His drive to do better is heartwarming.

    Jesus and Sara,
Jesus was amazing. Sara did great but there were times when her ‘breaker posture was visible. Maybe I was just seeing things..lol.

Lacy, Anya: if a girl wins it this year, it could be either of those 2. I hope a girl wins it ;)
